So last Saturday we had a pretty jam packed day! We got up bright and early at 6 AM. My son was pretty okay with it, he is a bit of an early riser anyway. My daughter, however is like me. She doesn't really "do" mornings! (She totally gets that from ME! HAHA!) So after yelling at her, oh...I don't know...five times!! She finally and groggily rolled out of bed...on the wrong side I might add. In the time it takes her to open her eyes, he brother is completely ready to go. We were meeting up with his Cub Scout pack at 7 and going door to door to hand grocery bags on the front doors in our town. Our pack is having a food drive for our local food bank. The idea is that each bag has a note in it explaining what we are doing. We hang the bags, (don't worry, we weren't knocking...no need for the whole town to suffer waking that early on a Saturday. Haha!) and the note says that if you can/want to, put some non-perishable items in the bag to donate, and the following Saturday, put the bag back on your porch and we will come to collect it. (Yeah, you read that right....we have to get up at 6 AM AGAIN this Saturday!!) All for a good cause though. We've been in slumps before and needed to use our local food bank, and I'm thankful to the people who donated so that my family could have what they needed.

Passing out plastic bags actually takes a long time...we got started just after 7 o'clock and didn't finish til almost 9. So we came back home (for a very short time) because starting at 11 was the Pinewood Derby! In my last blog I mentioned about his car (train) that he made. Well, it ran in 5 races and came in first place twice. He didn't win, but he had a fun time racing and having fun with his buddies. He took it pretty well and was a good sport about it. The way he sees it, he at least has a new train to play with, Haha! So we raced cars, at some food and then loaded up for our next destination....the zoo!! We are trying to get all of his required tasks done in his Cub Scout handbook, and visiting a zoo or nature center is one of them. But, even though that may have been what prompted the trip, my daughter was probably the most excited! My son actually said "I think the zoo will be boring." (He'd never been before then) It was less than five minutes after we got there that he changed his mind.
We had so much fun! (So much that we are planning to go back this weekend!) All of the animals were awesome to see, but I have to tell about an incident that just had us rolling with laughter. So we came across some monkeys, and I can't remember the exact type these were (there were several throughout the zoo) but there were three sitting high up on these branches. One of them was CLEARLY the leader. Another walked past him and tried to do something and this guy grabbed him by his back hair and stopped him! The peasant then tries to clean him, as monkeys do, and the King shoves him away! To which the peasant responds...with a hug. But the King is not having it, so he pushes him again! Hug. Man, this dude just isn't taking no for an answer. So he doesn't get shoved this time, and risks stepping back to pick at the Kings hair again. Then, when we are all least expecting it, he SLAPS the King!! BAHAHA!! We were all laughing so hard! I got it on video...so for your viewing pleasure. Also, ignore the commentary, HAHA!! The kids, my daughters boyfriend and I are all pretty loud...
I am currently typing this while watching Supermarket Sweep on Amazon Prime...I'm not the only person who watches game shows from 20+ years ago, right?? And I'm totally shouting answers at the TV. I heard a while back that they were going to bring this show back...I haven't seen it yet! Don't tease me, people!! I have wanted to be on this show my entire life!! (Well...from the first day I saw it anyway...) I will totally fly to where ever I need to to be on this show!! Man...I would toatlly win... That was pretty random...
I finished another book and updated my "Currently Reading" on here! Warrior of the Wild by Tricia Levenseller was SO good! And last week I finished A World Without You by Beth Revis, which was also a great book! My current read is The Cruel Prince by Holly Black. I've never read anything by her before, but I keep seeing everyone talk about how good these books are, so I thought I'd check 'em out! My TBR list is so good right now...books I'm so looking forward to, so it's hard to choose when I finish a book what will come next. The worst part...I also REALLY want to re-read a couple of series that I absolutely loved!! Anyone else have this problem? My TBR includes lots of authors from the fantastic #fantasyonfriday crew on IG! But as much as I want to read all of these books...for the first time...I also really, really want to re-read the Premonitions series by Amy A. Bartol!! It's only been about 2 months since I finished the last book, but I LOVED this series SO much! Like, I MISS the characters. Is that weird? Haha! #nerdproblems Below is my current TBR and my beloved Premonitions series!!
If ever you need a book recommendation, let me know! Between me and my awesome IG book friends, I can surely hook you up! Until next time, stay weird, y'all!

I’m so glad Warrior of the Wild is good! Can’t wait to read that
